Around 93,000 people may have been affected. The death toll remains fluid, whilst search and rescue operations continue in areas that are difficult to access. The destruction of roads, bridges and energy infrastructure is slowing down the delivery of drinking water, medical care, shelter and essential supplies.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has launched an emergency appeal for 25 million Swiss francs. The World Health Organisation has also released funds and mobilised medical supplies to support health services in the affected communities.
